Self-care can be a challenge for many of us as we fly through our busy lives everyday. The purpose of this workshop is to begin the practice of art journaling as self-care through a combination of simple book structure, writing, and playing with various art media.
Most writers keep journals, and many artists keep sketchbooks. You need not be an artist or writer to practice this method of self-care. The work you do in your journal is for you. What the end product looks like does not matter. What is important is that you are able to question, process, release, embrace, and understand through the creation of a journal entry.
Generally, I work with a small group of people for a series of 8 to 12 workshops. The workshops are two hours long and occur once a week. The workshops are held at various locations around the Atlanta area, such as at a recreation center, local church, or nonprofit. Occasionally, I will facilitate a one-off workshop to give people who are interested a taste of what a full series may be like.
I provide all of the materials you will need for the workshops, but you are welcome to bring your favorite notebook and pen, if you like. I do my best to tailor the workshops to the specific needs and expectations of each small group. Space is limited to 12 people per group/series.
If you are interested in working with me one-on-one, I am willing to do so. I offer a package based on weekly contact for as long as you choose.
A workshop series is $25 per session ($200 for 8 weeks, $300 for 12 weeks) plus a materials fee of $50 for the series.
The cost of one-off workshops varies, and is usually done as a fundraiser for the hosting nonprofit or church.
One-on-one coaching is priced as a weekly package. The first week is $200, and includes 1) a one hour session in person or via phone to determine needs and expectations, 2) an art journaling assignment designed to meet needs and expectations, 3) email support if you need additional help, and 4) a half hour session in person or via phone to discuss completed assignment. For those who choose to continue with additional weeks, the cost is $175/week. The last half hour session of the first week is extended to one hour and will include the next week’s assignment.
